(Sports) Derrick Rose has agreed to a five-year, $94.8 million contract extension with the Bulls.
Rose made a statement saying : “It’s something big, I’m going to talk about it more with my family there. I don’t think about money. The Bulls show they trust me. I just feel blessed.”
It’s said that the extension is for about $10 million to $11 million more than Derrick Rose would have been eligible for under the previous collective bargaining agreement.
The extension will begin in the 2012-13 season at $16.3 million in the first year. Rose, who’s 23, stated the extension won’t change him.
“My mom did a great job letting me know it’s just a sport, If I keep working hard and treating people the right way, good things will happen to me. I live a humble life. I know I’ll be able to afford what I want. But not too many things excite me except winning and being around my family.”
General manager Gar Forman, spoke on the third day of training camp about the extension for Rose.
“Derrick is the centerpiece of what we’re putting together here, We want Derrick to be a Bull for a long, long time. It’s very important that we put the right pieces around Derrick.”
