(NFL) Things couldn’t have gotten any worse for The New York Giants season when Odell Beckham Jr. went down with a scary-looking injury to his ankle.
In the fourth quarter, Beckham went up for a catch and was violently hit in the air by a Los Angeles Chargers defender, where he came down under the defender, his ankle bending underneath the defender’s body.
We knew something was wrong when Beckham stayed on the ground in obvious pain. Chargers players immediately called for help.
Beckham was eventually carted off the field, in tears, and was later reported that he was taken directly to the Giants’ X-ray machine where it was diagnosed that he has broken his ankle.
According to reports, Beckham will have surgery on the injured ankle. It’s unclear what the timetable is for his recovery, though I wish a speedy recovery.
Week 5 just seemed to be the worse for the Giants as Beckham’s injury came on the same day that the Giants also lost Brandon Marshall and Sterling Shephard to injuries.
Losing Beckham would all but ensure the Giants’ season is OVER.
