(Youth Sports) One of the nation’s best safeties is off the market.
Bubba Bolden of Bishop Gorman (Las Vegas, Nev.) committed to USC at the U.S. Army All-American Bowl in San Antonio Texas on Saturday.
Standing 6-foot-3, the 190 pounder chose the Trojans over Ohio State. Bolden is the sixth-rated safety and 55th overall recruit in the country according to 247Sports.
He made his announcement in the third quarter of the game during a live NBC broadcast. Bolden hasn’t lost a football game, he said, since the third quarter.
The ballhawk safety recorded 25 tackles, seven interceptions and five tackles for loss this year to nab MaxPreps first-team All-American honors.
He also executed the crucial field goal block to spur the 25-24 three overtime victory over No. 6 St. Thomas Aquinas and help the Gaels garner the MaxPreps national championships in both the Xcellent 25 human and computer rankings.
Bolden was a pivotal part in Bishop Gorman racking up 54 straight wins – the second-longest active win streak in the nation.
