(The Lyfe News) Amar’e Stoudemire and J.R. Smith will not be joining the Knicks for their first three preseason games, this is due to knee surgery during the offseason, and coach Mike Woodson has decided to let them sit out the first half of New York’s six game preseason road trip.
While Stoudemire is expected to be on a tight minutes limit when he does return to the court, Smith is hoping to play. He first must be cleared by the league’s doctor so he can serve his 5 game suspension he incurred for his third violation of the league’s drug policy.
Jeremy Tyler, who the Knicks signed over the summer, will also miss the teams first three games as he recovers from foot surgery.
New York will play their first three games in Rhode Island, Toronto, and New Hampshire.
